❝ | We want peace, we want freedom. But in the end it is nothing but a fantasy. An illusion. Yet we fight on, our torch held high. | ❞ |
A cloaked figure stood silently by the still, calm lake. Not even a ripple disturbed the glassy surface, it was calm as it always has been. The light of day was coming to an end, the sun dipped behind the horizon to sleep. A few hours seemed to pass by as the figure tilted her head upwards and towards the heavens. Crimson gaze looked at the canvas painted out before her as the stars sparkled above. "Come...." Was all she said, and the silent night began to stir and come alive. As the stars began to fall from the sky, they made a whistling noise and only went silent once they hit the surface of the water.
From under her cloak, Aria pulled out a few small vials and walked over towards the area where the stars each fell upon the lake surface. She knelt down and leaned forward to scoop up the stardust which was now left of the star. She moved to a different part of the lake, and did the same thing over and over. When she was done, Aria placed each vial delicately into a small pouch under her cloak. Though hearing a sound, and with a quick motion she stood up and glanced around. An animal? Or....someone was watching her. She decided to wait and see who or what would emerge. 226 ● TAGGED ● Open to anyone

... The one who can find the light can stay in the light. t was quite a rare site to be able to catch the stars light up in the night, but it had been even more rare to be able to see stars literally falling from the sky. Back at the kingdom of Louthia, the conversation of the Stardust Lake was always one of the more silently discussed ones. Ones that only true alchemist with a grasp in alchemy had been able to gain information on. To Masahiro, it sounded like a decent spot to collect a bit of reagents from if the tales were true about the lake. As he wandered through the southern lands, it was best to keep a subtle profile. The best way he did this was with wearing a conical straw hat that did good in shadowing down to his eyes. However, as the sun began to set, the hat would only get in the way of his line of sight. Removing the hat, Masahiro took a gaze to the sky as the night came in. In the distance, he saw the rays of light coming from the stars above as they made their way down to an unknown source. He followed suit, making his way towards the area before noticing a cloaked figure kneeling and interacting with the water. It was hard to make-out, but during this day and age, it was best to remain cautious. The thought of the figure being a Cestian wasn’t too much of a far-off thought, but it was best to assume the worst. Masahiro made his way quietly around the nearby shrubs and flora that were large enough to hide a man. He crouched down, observing the figure for a while with a light grasp keeping at the hilt of his sheathed blade. After a few minutes of allowing the figure to continue their work, Masahiro yawned lightly to himself, covering his mouth from emitting any noise. That was until the idea of messing with them had come into his mind. Setting his hands to the sides of his mouth, Masahiro began emitting a slightly grim voice from his mouth, speaking towards the figure and doing his best to remain hidden. “How dare you…. How dare you take my light away… I will curse you with a darkness unlike you have ever seen…” He then added a bit of effect to the voice, something any normal person could call out as a fake howl. “OoooOoOOOoOOooo…” | ✉ | Hehehe, it's time to make an entrance! |

No one showed themselves, however once she heard the words being spoken in a grim voice all that appeared under the hood of the cloak she wore. Was a smirk. If that was supposed to frighten her, or make her drop what she had gathered and flee. It was not working. But she had to give whomever it was props for trying. A E for effort. Though she could play along, just for a little bit to humor them. "Curse me with a darkness, oh dear. Oh my. Whatever shall I do, please oh please do forgive me oh fallen stars. You see I need this stardust. Without it, I won't be able to continue my research. And what then? So many are suffering and this could help with new ways to aid them." And just for a dramatic flare, she raised her right arm and placed the back of her right palm against her forehead. "Oh woe is me."
After that, she couldn't help but laugh. A curse of darkness? Yeah that was a good one. And she would have fallen for it if she was so gullible. And they called that a howl, please she's heard wolves that howl better than this mysterious figure. Hmm, wolves. That gave her an idea to be even more humorous. "My, you should get that howl checked out. If the wolf clan heard that they would think one of their comrades were dying, or worse. If you're a fake, they'd likely kill you." Lucky for him, it was just her here. Aria hadn't seen any wolves for a long while now. Maybe....a few months back or something, anyways she had come to get what she needed. There was no reason to stay. Unless her mystery guest decided to show themselves.
"Well, if you're going to curse me. Be done with it. Otherwise, i'll take the dust and be off." Another smile crossed over her lips from underneath her cloak, using the same right hand to push back the hood so it fell back revealing raven black hair. "So, what will it be?" 352 ● Masahiro A. ● You need to work on that howl there XD

... THE ONE WHO CAN FIND THE LIGHT CAN STAY IN THE LIGHT. t wasn’t every day that you met your fellow stranger out in a cloak by a lake with falling stars. However, that would never be the case for Masahiro. Although he wasn’t quite sure on the threat level this person could’ve been on, after all, people in cloaks tend to hide something underneath that could be greater than what they might appear as. It was only meant as a joke to see if the figure would respond or run away. Luckily, they had responded and the voice that emitted from the figure sounded quite feminine. Now the only question that had been resting in Masahiro’s mind was: Was she an alchemist such as himself or something more? He listened to her responses, only to emit a light chuckle from her sarcasm. Though the detail of research and aiding suffering people was pretty noble. However, any threat would do their best to escape from a situation such as this. The extra comment on his howling and wolves had been a striking one. Masahiro winced slightly, only to furrow his eyebrows and have a look at the figure once more behind the shrub. He watched as her black hair flowed. It was similar to his own, but of course, women would usually have long flowing hair. Men? Not as much. “You’re either an alchemist or healer, but which is it?” He kept himself prepared for the moment, only to emit a light exhale of breath. Hopefully, she was of a neutral party if she had been helping others, but Masahiro refused to take any chances. | ✉ | I-I see how it is! We'll see how this goes! NYA! |

Straight to the point was it? "I am a witch. Though I do heal, being an alchemist is sort of a side hobby of mine. And what about you, my mysterious lurker. Just what are you?" Whatever this male, yes his voice she could tell was male. And what he did with the information she just gave him, was up to him to decide what to do next. If he was an enemy, Aria wouldn't hesitate in the slightest to take him down. Even though it's been only two years since her escape from Cesta, she knows that she always has to watch her back.
"Also, if you insist on speaking to me. Will you come out from hiding? I promise not to cause you any harm. Unless of course, you pose to harm me first in any way." And just to show she meant her word, Aria held her hands up to reveal she didn't have her staff nor did she show any intention of summoning it to her hand. She soon lowered her arms back to her side and waited.

itch. She was a witch. If she had been a threat, this would have taken much to far for a quick getaway. And if she was, then she might just be even more clever than he. Either way, she exchanged her profession and hobby, it would only be fair to exchange his, would it not? He stood from his position, brushing away any foliage that got caught up inside his hair. He then make his way slowly to the figure, keeping his palm just resting in a relaxed position on the hilt of his sheathed blade. “Me? I'm just a simple vagabond that goes by the name of Shiro. Pleased to meet your acquaintance... Ms. Witch.” He gave off a hint of a smirk from his features before stopping a good distance from her. His dark hair kept from blocking his vision and his clothing could be seen quite clearly under the faint light of the moon. Seeing as he didn’t truly know the woman, he kept his position distant just as a precaution. “And if what you say is true, why have you chosen to come to such a remote place? Surely, you have others that you could’ve brought along? Companions to watch over you?” His expression was set to that of a curious one as he questioned her. It was already strange to find someone lurking out at night, but it was even more strange to come alone. Had she been meaning to do so or did she not think it over? And finally a reveal. Crimson gaze looked him up and down, as she took note of his attire. "A vagabond you say? There are a lot of those wandering about these lands. Not that I take much notice to them. They come and go, but to have one spying on me from a shrub. Quite curious." Her tone had a teasing hint to it before it vanished just like the stars. "Shiro. A pleasure. There is no need to be so formal with me, you can call me Aria." She replied. After all, it would be rude not to give her name after he so graciously gave his.
Again with all these questions. Curious one, isn't he? They've only just exchanged names and he's asking her why she is has come to this remote place. And alone without any others. As if she needed escorts or fellow kin to come with her to gather but a few specimens. After all, through the whole night there are others who come here just like her. Night had just fallen, so there was plenty of stardust and darkness left for more magical folk to come here.
"Do I look like a child that needs my hand held? I know the risks as do others that come here. I just simply chose to come alone. And should I feel threatened I can simply use magic. This place is so beautiful though, it'd be a shame to cause any damage to it. Now why are you here? Up to no good? Spying perhaps? Or just passing by?"

is cerulean eyes kept fixated on her gaze, blinking as she inspected him and listening as she spoke. Any careful eye could suspect that he’d be much more than a simple vagabond, but it seems to have worked for the witch. The ‘spying’ comment did catch Masahiro off guard however, allowing him to give off a light chuckle with a nervous tension growing in his tone. As he rubbed the back of his neck, he emitted a light sigh. “Sorry about that, but I can’t just go around where I hardly know much about the area. Along with any suspicious individuals.”
His palm then fled to stay just at the side of himself while the other had been set at his waist. Even a rebel as he wasn’t much of a person for spying, but in this case, he was caught. Seeing no way out of it, it’d be smarter just to give it to her upfront. “I suppose you can say I’ve heard quite a bit of this place from passing around. And I’d have to say this is quite a decent find.”He then allowed his gaze to move upwards, looking to the remaining stars in the sky, along with the moon. It seems that the rumors were true about the lake. And of course, it was quite the sight. Setting a palm just under his chin, he watched as the dust lingered just along the surface of the lake. His interest was peaked before he made his way over to have a closer inspection at the lake. He muttered a few words as he crouched, audible enough for the witch to listen in on if she wished. “Dust that trickles down… shiny, quite bright. Perhaps a decent reagent, but it’s uses haven’t been recorded.” He then moved a palm into his satchel, revealing a small portable journal filled with bookmarks but in an organized manner. He flipped through a couple of pages before standing upright once more, scribing into the book and clicking his eyes from the lake, into his journal from time to time. | ✉ | Dust? |

Aria was no fool, there was a feeling that there was much more to Shiro than being a simple vagabond. However she just decided to be mute about it and not say anything. "You do have a point there. Though this area is very well known, at least by most magical folk. And alchemists. And in this day and age, a lot of people are suspicious." You never know who you may run into on a remote trail, or in either of the kingdoms. Be it a friendly party or someone with ill intentions. Aria herself has come across many suspicious individuals, and those encounters were brief or just brushed off. "A decent find? A sight unlike any other. But the dust is not sought after by everyone. Even when I heard the tales of this place at first, I was amazed by the splendor and enchanted by the falling stars. Seeing them dance across the water so elegantly."
Her gaze followed him as she watched him crouch down near the lake. Her body moving from the spot she had been standing in, footsteps hardly making a noise as she went to stand not so close but close enough. A smile cradled in the corner of her lips, she glanced down. A slight tilt of her head as she watched him stand upright and scribble into a book he was holding. Glancing back to the lake, head then tilted back to look towards the heavens. "Why don't you take some samples for yourself? Try out some ways to use the dust and record your finds in that little book of yours. Staring at the dust on the lake top is not getting results. Trial and error."
Reaching to take out a vial from under her cloak, she handed one to Shiro. "Here. Freshly taken and not yet used. Who knows what mysteries this dust holds, perhaps you can unlock something no one has thought of yet. Worth a try. Or maybe....you can just sell it."

said I was a vagabond, so perhaps that’s why I hardly knew of it.” It was obvious by the tone of his voice that he had been keeping something hidden about himself as he spoke, but he curved his way around the truth surprisingly well. If it was true that the dust came from the sky, then just the thought of having uses came into mind as he stood, closing his journal and listening in onto Aria’s comments. To think that something so simple could turn someone’s mind into mush in an instant, or at least that is how Masahiro believed Aria had been at the current point in time. He raised a curious eyebrow to her small quiry, eventually that came along with her revealing a vial from her cloak. He gave off a smile before setting his pen into the journal and placing it away. His fingers moved to grasp the vial, raising it higher to his visage and inspecting the dust with a closer eye. Perhaps she was right, and maybe this dust could have many mysteries lying within it. It looked as if Masahiro had set a small goal for himself just then, looking to figure out more of the dust. Bringing the vial into his satchel, Masahiro looked back to Aria. “I’ll just save this for now. Maybe I can look into it more once I get back into town.” His fingers then moved to his chin as he slowly made his way around her in a slow pace, inspecting her entire being while speaking. “Say… you wouldn’t happen to have any notes on the dust currently, would you? Any knowledge of how it comes to be, or are you just as new to the substance as I am?” He then stopped just behind her in a good distance, allowing his words to rest in her mind. This is how friendships are typically made. Well, atleast in Masahiro's eyes. | ✉ | Because your friends are always there for yooooou~ |
